ধান, নদী, খাল এই তিনে বরিশাল

“ধান , নদী, খাল এই তিনে বরিশাল”
‘ও মনু তোমাগো বাড়ি কোম্মে!!’

I think more or less everyone is well known with those lines. There is nothing to say who belongs to Barishal but for those people who assume something about Barishal by only hearing those kind of line I have something more to say. There are lots of things to know about barishal which was unknown to me also though I belong from their. For the last three days I was wondering how much I know about my city ? Though I am not a city dweller but this name is like my own identity.

To know all things related to it I started reading when I reached Dhaka and then I realized it was a great mistake of mine, I sould have known all the information earlier. Then I gave solace to myself by saying that “its better late than never” I was thinking to write something in English but I felt that when I started writing unintentionally I am borrowing some lines from Wikipedia or from some other sites. Because when you read something to collect information your writing will be influenced by those lines so I decided to write in Bangla first then I will translate it into English. This way I can kill two birds with a single stone ( I forgot the phrase) 

Once when I was in HSC level, one of my teachers asked me a question in a viva examination “why barishal is famous?” at that time I just uttered the first line of my post without knowing the real facts. I also gave some examples to make my answer more acceptable as I wasn’t that much bad at wit and surprisingly I got A+ in that subject! Hahah 😀

But u know one thing you can make fool others by your wit or wisdom but you can’t make fool yourself. So for the first time I want to be true to myself and want to learn something to educate myself in a true sense. I always read something to pass the examination but not to gather any knowledge. Though I have a habit of reading but never tried this way.

Let me make it clear to all, if you had any bad experience regarding barishal please don’t share it here. I just wanted to share some information about this city, district and locality. Today I just want to introduce this place in a brief but I will write about some particular topic everyday insha Allah

Last night I just finished here and went to sleep so I started it againg still don’t know how much I can write tonight.

Whole day I was thinking why I can’t write properly why I can’t be consistent and why I am losing my fluency?? Then the answer came with this line “ lack of willingness” that’s the only reason for my failure. If I wanted to learn no one can stop me and if I don’t know one can help me.

#razib_ahmed vaia always says those line and today I realized their true meaning “ don’t lose hope and don’t give up. The worst failure is to lose one’s own self’ and I was that kind of person but this time I don’t want to give up easily, I don’t want to lose what I have gained in past few months. I can feel the change if I compare me with myself , you don’t have to take any ones help to judge yourself wether you improved or not. Now I am feeling that I have taken one step towards success but also taken more steps backward. But this time I am determined to see the end.

Once again lets back to Barishal. To say in a bookish way the city has a glorious/affluent/exuberant past from the ancient time for various reasons. It was called “bakla chondrodip” which is now known by “barishal” . The city is situated in the bank of “Kirton khola” river . It is said that the municipality of barishal was organized in 1876 when the city was ruled by “British Raz” This city is famous for many reasons like education, culture, paddy, fishes, and lots of famous people are from this city like – Sher A Bangla A K Fazlul Haque, Jibonanondo Dash, Altaf Mahmud, Abdul Gaffar Chowdhuri and so on. There lots of famus educational institutions like Oxford Mission, which is more then hundred years of age and other reputed universities like B M College, Barishal University etc. There are lots of historical places like Durga Shagor, Guthia Mosque, Oxford Mission Church, Shujabad Fort, Shongram Fort and so on.

This district is abounded with lots of natural beauties. The daughter of sea “ Kuakata” also belongs here, from where you can enjoy sunrise and sunset at a time. In the midst of nature there are lots of modern facilities like a well organized airport, river port, high tech park, and so on. Its also called the “Venice of the East”

Its just the introductory part about Barishal there will be lots of more information in next posts inshaAllah.

So stay tuned with me, I am coming back tomorrow with some new interesting information about this famous city Barishal. If have to be with our beloved “SEARCH ENGLISH” to know more.
